Our Ethos + Sustainability
We are inspired with new energy and heightened consciousness of our wondrous natural surroundings. At this critical time we must as individuals and collaboratively as businesses take a sustainable approach in all our activities to ensure the continuance of life for us and for those yet to come. At Storm we care deeply and are unified in our commitment to doing everything we can to contribute to the preservation of this extraordinary world.
In the Studio
Zero Waste: We utilize every possible way and means to recycle and reuse. Ways we do this is by using recycled paper if we print at all, having a fully stocked staff kitchen with reusable crockery.
Zero Plastic: All our wholesale production is packaged in Avani eco bags made from cassava root and are 100% biodegradable we have eradicated the use of plastic garment packaging bags.
Power Efficiency: Our office has been designed to optimize the natural light and minimize our reliance on electricity. Our floor to ceiling glass windows flood our studio with natural light, we rarely need to flip the switches.
Our Team: We are pleased that retention is nearly 100% our foundation is one of respect and support, our team benefit from health insurance, pension contributions and onsite child care.
Design And Production
Limited collections: By condensing the size of each range we able to devote more time to create enduring designs and discover more ecological materials and methods
Seamless and reversible: For pints and textured swim we use a solid color inner, which is fully reversible so customers can enjoy two swimsuits in one.
Digital Printing: as opposed to rotary printing we only print as much as we need. By digitally printing we are reducing the carbon footprint with low dye consumption and reduced waste material by 95%. Digital printing also reduces water consumption by 60%, chemical usage and power by 55%.
Our choice of material: We now use an Italian milled fabric. The material is made from reused nylon products found in every day life, which are transformed into nylon chips and turned into the yarn from which the material is woven. What is incredible news is that the material itself can be recycled again making it truly sustainable. The printing and material costs are higher but we see these changes as critical for our company to move forward in line with our values
We have our own factory: Know who makes your swimwear! We can ensure our colleagues receive a fair wage, fair working hours, holiday leave and ethical working conditions. We do not tolerate anything less.
We are a small passionate team of individuals that love coming together to create and bring you each special piece. There is not one garment that does not pass through many caring hands from cutting the material, sewing, checking and finally packing.
